The Stoneco White Rock Quarry, located in Clay Center, Ottawa County, Ohio, has been active since at least the late nineteenth century (with operations recorded by 1880) and remains an active industrial aggregate and agricultural lime operation today, meaning a closing date does not exist. Geologically, the quarry is situated within northwestern Ohio's Findlay Arch mineral district, where commercial extraction exposes shallow Silurian carbonate strata, primarily the Lockport Dolomite and Greenfield Dolomite formations. The region's geological fame stems from vugs, fissures, and replacement pockets within the porous dolostone that were permeated by low-temperature, mineral-bearing fluids, producing cavity-lining crystal growths.
