Outstanding example for the species with a mostly freestanding metallic lustrous large sharp carrollite crystal 3.4 cm across on a cleavage matrix of calcite. This is in super condition all around. Minor chalcopyrite present as well.

The Kamoya South II Mine, located in the Kambove district of Haut-Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo, began operations as a benched open-cut bauxite and copper-cobalt project in 1998 through a partnership involving state-owned Gecamines, Harambee Mining Corp, and Sogemin, though specific closing or depletion dates are not officially finalized as it remains part of the broader active regional asset pool. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the Central African Copperbelt and is hosted primarily in the Neoproterozoic Katanga Supergroup rocks, specifically within the Mines Subgroup of the Roan Group. The ore system features sediment-hosted copper and cobalt mineralization localized in dolomitic shales and dolostones, and the site has gained global mineralogical fame for producing exceptionally large, high-quality carrollite crystals alongside various secondary copper minerals resulting from intense supergene processes and structural brecciation.
