Calcite with Sphalerite, Galena
specimen number:
7992476
location:
Denton mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
description:
An amber scalenohedral double terminated twinned crystal of calcite 7.5 cm in length set nicely up on a matrix of crystallized sphalerite and galena. Minor fluorite present. One termination is slightly cleaved as shown up close in the video, I think that the specimen is still in good condition. The calcite crystal exhibits interesting fluorescence under long wave ultraviolet.
