Calcite
specimen number:
2062718
location:
Iron Co., Missouri, USA
description:
Collected in 2013 from an open quarry, stacked rhombohedral crystals of semi lustrous translucent calcite are over growing a previous scalenohedral crystal of calcite. The scalenohedral crystal shows as a phantom crystal within the larger personal grouping. This is in great condition all around. The habit is typical for calcite found near the surface throughout southeastern Missouri. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
Size: 7.0 x 5.5 x 4.0 cm (small-cabinet)
