Calcite
specimen number:
1213004
location:
Sweetwater mine, Viburnum Trend, Reynolds Co., Missouri, USA
description:
An outstanding grouping of dark lustrous slightly translucent scalenohedral calcite crystals. This is in super condition for this pocket, just slight cleaving on the back of the piece to a minor crystal. All of the prominent tall crystals are in super condition. I would guess that at least 98% of the specimens collected from this pocket over the last seven years shown damage, in some cases, a lot of damage. Yet these pieces were still commanding high prices. The quality of this one is as good as they get. The dark inclusions are chalcopyrite.
Size: 21.0 x 12.0 x 12.0 cm (large-cabinet)
