Brucite
specimen number:
2063263
location:
Nisai, Killa Saifullah, Balochistan, Pakistan
description: Nisai, located in the Killa Saifullah District of Balochistan, Pakistan, is world-famous among mineral collectors for producing some of the finest known specimens of brucite. Geologically, the area features ultramafic rocks of the Muslim Bagh Ophiolite complex, where hydrothermal alteration of magnesium-rich rocks led to the formation of vibrant yellow, yellow-green, and orange brucite crystals. Mining in the region is largely conducted by local miners using small-scale methods, with major discoveries in the 2010s establishing Nisai as a premier global locality for high-quality, colorful brucite specimens highly prized in the mineral collecting community.
A beautiful botryoidal sulfur yellow crystal grouping of lustrous slightly translucent brucite. Very little attached matrix, this is complete all around and in great condition. An attractive example for the species. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
Size: 7.0 x 5.0 x 2.0 cm (small-cabinet)
