description: The Scottish Highlands around Strontian, Fort William, and Ardnamurchan feature complex geological formations, notably Devonian granitic intrusions and ancient metamorphic rocks. Strontian achieved historic fame for its eighteenth- and nineteenth-century lead and silver mines, which yielded significant metal ores alongside unique mineral discoveries. Among these is the zeolite mineral brewsterite, first found as sparkling prismatic crystals in the local mines alongside other classic specimens like strontianite. Today, the region remains a popular destination for mineral collecting and geological study due to its rich mining heritage and diverse mineralogy.
One side of this matrix is mostly covered with glistening crystals of colorless brewsterite measuring to 0.1 cm in size. In good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
