Beryl
specimen number:
9731010
location:
Ponto de Marambaia, Padre Paraiso, Minas Gerais, Brazil
description: The Ponto de Marambaia region, situated within the Padre Paraiso pegmatite field in Minas Gerais, Brazil, is world-renowned for hosting granitic pegmatites intruded into ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks. Formed during late-stage magmatic crystallization, these pegmatitic bodies developed large pockets rich in volatile fluids, providing ideal conditions for growing remarkable gem-quality beryl crystals. Artisanal miners, or garimpeiros, have worked these deposits for decades using traditional tunneling and excavation techniques to recover fine specimens for the global gem and mineral market. Among these finds, the golden beryl variety known as heliodor stands out for its striking bright yellow to golden-amber color, exceptional transparency, and high luster, making Marambaia heliodor crystals highly prized by collectors worldwide.
A loose naturally etched neat yellow green double terminated crystal of beryl. This is the variety often called heliodor. In super condition all around. There are no points of attachment. The crystal weighs 52.99 g.
