Barite with Sphalerite
specimen number:
5006055
location:
Les Cedres mine, Les Malines, Saint-Laurent-le-Minier, Occitanie, France
description:
Great specimen, both for its size and for being very unusual, with very sharp crystals of barite, between tabular and lamellar, and totally different from the classic ones from this deposit. In addition, the crystals are covered by very unusual orange sphalerite crystals (analyzed) which form globular groups. The specimen undoubtedly owes its rarity to the fact that it is very old and comes from the collection of Pierre-Marie Guy, who was the one who acquired it from the miner Robert Guy. From the late 1970's.
Size: 20.0 x 10.0 x 8.5 cm (large-cabinet)
Collection: Fabre Minerals
