Barite with Calcite
specimen number:
1392091
location:
Montreal mine, Iron Co., Wisconsin, USA
description:
A superb miniature from this classic old locality. The specimen consists of a grouping of double terminated semi lustrous blue barite crystals set on a small amount of pink crystallized calcite. One small cleaved crystal present; overall I think in great condition. At one time the specimen was part of the collection of John Brottlund, a miner who was responsible for the majority of specimens saved from the crusher from this famous old locality. Good examples of blue barite from this locality are rarely seen available on the market today. This one is super. The specimen was on public display at both the Cincinnati, 1993, 1997 and Denver 1997 shows.
Size: 5.0 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm (miniature)
Collection: Karen & David DeBruin
