An open pocket across the front of this matrix approximately 5.0 x 2.0 cm in sizes lined with beautiful lustrous deep blue crystals of azurite measuring to 0.5 cm in size. Velvety green malachite present as well. This is in good condition. A previous label comes with the specimen from the collection of Ray DeMark.

The Sepon Mine, located in the Vilabouly district of Savannakhet Province, Laos, officially commenced modern commercial production with gold in December 2002 and copper in 2005. While gold production temporarily ceased in 2013, operations transitioned back to a dual focus when gold mining officially resumed in mid-2020, allowing the facility to remain active through the present day. Geologically, the deposit sits within the Truongson Fold Belt, featuring a complex stratigraphy of Paleozoic continental and marine sedimentary sequences, including graben-hosted siliciclastic and carbonate-dominant units that were intruded by late Paleozoic igneous rocks. These intrusive-centred systems and calcareous mudstone horizons serve as the primary host environments for the region's extensive skarn and sediment-hosted metallic mineralization.
