Interesting locality example for the species with sharp lustrous silver blocky crystals of arsenopyrite to 1.0 cm in size on matrix. This is in good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. He acquired the specimen through Russ Boggs in 1988.

While local historical records in Lincoln County primarily document major regional sites like the Troy Mine rather than a distinct commercial operation officially named the Iron Mask Mine, mineral exploration in this part of northwestern Montana dates back to the late 19th century prospectors searching the Cabinet Range. Geologically, the area is characterized by the Precambrian metasedimentary rocks of the Belt Supergroup, which host significant stratabound deposits of silver and base metals within local quartzites and argillites.
