Fairly large sharp crystal of analcime with crystallized native copper. In good condition, nice miniature for the species and locality. Collected in 1998.

The Seneca #3 Mine, located in Keweenaw County, Michigan, was part of the historic copper mining operations north of Mohawk in Allouez Township. Initially developed around the early 1900s (with major corporate operations spanning periods such as 1909 to 1921 and later reactivations), the broader Seneca properties experienced intermittent production before final operations permanently ceased in 1966. Geologically, the mine is situated on the Keweenaw Peninsula's rich native-copper bearing strata, specifically targeting the Kearsarge Amygdaloid lode, a prominent basaltic lava flow top characterized by native copper deposits filling ancient vesicular cavities and fractures.
