The Ijaka area in the Kongwa district of Dodoma, Tanzania, does not function as a formally dated commercial mine with strict historical opening and closing milestones, but rather as an active specimen-producing terrain. Geologically, it is situated within the Precambrian metamorphic basement of central Tanzania, characterized by complex crystalline terrains of the East African Orogen and ancient mobile belts containing high-grade metamorphic rocks. The local geology features distinctive lithologies that yield well-formed mineral specimens, notably dark green actinolite crystals and sharp metallic magnetite octahedra hosted within pale matrix materials shaped by ancient regional tectonic and metamorphic reworking.
